Waste plastic containers became flower POTs, and teachers and students planted hanging plants all over the campus.
On the afternoon of September 21, the children of Gangdu Primary School in Qingshan District planted spider plants with soil culture and hydroculture under the guidance of garden experts. The plants were packed into discarded plastic containers and hung all over the campus.
"What year a bunch of grass, dancing in the pot. Leaves thin light drag green, small flowers do not fly red. A thin cup of water is a thin cup of water. It has nothing to do with winter or summer, but with the wind." Tian Yarin, an expert from the Institute of Botany of Wuhan Academy of Landscape Sciences, opened the popular science research activity with the theme of "small Chlorophylli and a big world" with an ancient poem "Chanting Chlorophylli".

Tian Yarin told the children that hanging plants grow in overhang, evergreen, very elegant, full of vitality, is an excellent indoor leaf watching plant, or air purification expert, known as "green purifier". "Students, do you know why chlorophytum can purify the air? What is the relationship between chlorophytum and "double carbon"? What are the breeding methods of hanging orchids? How to cut and plant hanging orchis? How to use the plastic waste container around you to raise a unique pot of spider plants?" In the class, Tian Yarin kept asking questions, leading the children to understand the ecological characteristics, growth habits and reproduction methods of the spider plant, and explore the secrets of the spider plant.
Under the guidance of experts from Wuhan Academy of Landscape Sciences, the children used waste plastic containers made in advance as flower POTS and tried to grow spider plants in soil culture and hydroponics on site. Tang Ruize, a student from Class 504, said: "Although the spider plant is easy to plant and survive, if you want to raise it well, you also need to master scientific methods. Small plants play a big role in purifying the air and helping 'double carbon'."
Li Jingnian, principal of Gangdu Primary School, introduced that in order to promote the implementation of the "double reduction" work, the school worked with Wuhan Academy of Landscape Science to build a student ecological research education practice base, planned and organized a series of popular science research activities of "Science popularization to help 'double reduction' - 'Lotus' you grow together", and carried out 10 themed activities within two years to lead students to experience the fun of planting. Harvest the joy of growth.
