Application of PET plastics


PET plastics have heat resistance, weathering resistance, electrical properties, rigidity and strength. Strengthening, flame retardant modification and alloying modification of PET plastics can significantly improve their heat resistance, modulus, toughness, dimensional stability and flame retardancy, which are widely used in the fields of electronic appliances, automobiles and household appliances.


The greatest use of PET is in the field of synthetic fibers. At the beginning of development, 70% of PET was mainly used to produce polyester fibers, and most of PET is still used in the production of fibers. The application of polyester fibers has effectively solved the contradiction between the insufficient supply of natural fibers and the increasing demand of human production and life, and to a certain extent alleviated the problems caused by the continuous growth of population and the continuous reduction of land resources. In addition to the traditional manufacture of clothing and household and industrial textiles, PET fibers can also be used to produce various kinds of nonwovens. It can also be used as filling materials for furniture, pillows and toys.

Characteristics and Advantages of PET Plastics

Heat resistance:Thermal deformation temperature and long-term service temperature are the highest in thermoplastic general engineering plastics. Enhanced PET is impregnated in a soldering bath at 250 C for 10 seconds, and hardly deforms or discolors. It is especially suitable for the preparation of electronic and electrical parts for soldering.


Excellent mechanical properties:Bending strength 200 MPa, modulus of elasticity 4000MPa, creep resistance and fatigue resistance are also good, surface hardness is high, mechanical properties are similar to thermosetting plastics.


Value for money:Since the ethylene glycol used in the production of PET is almost half the price of the butanediol used in the production of PBT, PET resin and reinforced PET are the lowest in engineering plastics and have a high cost performance.

PET now has many non-fibrous (mainly plastic) applications, and its two largest non-fibrous applications are PET bottles (packaging containers) and PET films
