It has good heat resistance and cold resistance, chemical stability is good, but also has high rigidity and toughness, good mechanical strength. Dielectric properties, environmental stress cracking resistance is also good. Hardness, tensile strength and creep are better than low density polyethylene; wear resistance, electrical insulation, toughness and cold resistance are all good, but with low density of insulation is slightly worse; chemical stability is good, at room temperature, insoluble in any organic solvents, acid, alkali and various salts of corrosion; film on water vapor and air permeability is small, water absorption is low, anti-aging performance is poor, environmental cracking resistance is inferior to low density polyethylene, especially thermal oxidation will make its performance decline, so Resins need to be added to antioxidants and ultraviolet absorbers to improve the deficiencies.

High-density ethylene is an environmental protection material, heating up to the melting point, you can recycle and reuse. Plastic raw materials can be divided into two major categories: "Thermoplastic" and "thermosetting plastic". "Thermosetting plastic" is heated to a certain temperature after becoming a curing state, even if the continued heating can not change its state, therefore, the product of environmental issues is "thermosetting plastic" products (such as tires), not "thermoplastic" products (such as plastic pallets note: Pallets in Hong Kong and Macao is called "plywood"), so not all "plastic" is not environmentally friendly.
